City Walk Eats: Toothsome Chocolate Emporium

City Walk Eats: Toothsome Chocolate Emporium

The Chocolate Emporium has so much more than great desserts!  Don’t get me wrong, their desserts are phenomenal but their brunch menu keeps bringing us back.  We’ve tried a few different things here, both dessert and entrée wise, and have generally thoroughly enjoyed our meal.  We did do an appy dinner once (shared some appetizers among us) and it wasn’t our favourite.  We will generally go here at lunchtime and have brunch, though their breakfast menu is all day.  Some of our favourite brunch options include …

Quiche Lorraine with French Onion Soup

“Applewood bacon, Gruyère cheese, fresh fruit and choice of side salad or soup.”  I love French Onion Soup so that’s always my side of choice and it’s very good.  Their quiche is perhaps the best quiche I’ve ever had.  It somehow manages to be light and fluffy while also being creamy at the same time.  So good!

Berries and Cream Waffle

“Topped with fresh seasonal berries, fresh whipped cream, powdered sugar, lemon curd, fresh micro mint.”  This is your traditional breakfast waffle.  It’s loaded with topping, and the addition of the lemon curd just pushes it over the top.  A delicious, and very filling, choice.

Country Fresh French Toast

This is always my husband’s choice when he can’t decide if he wants sweet or savoury or he’s really hungry.  “Challah brioche stuffed with Gruyère cheese and smoky ham, sunny-side up egg, bérnaise sauce, Lyonnaise potatoes.”  The portion size is massive, similar to their ridiculous desserts.

We come here for dessert a lot too, even if we eat dinner somewhere else.  We’ll often go to the Emporium later in the evening after we’ve walked off our dinner in the parks and we’re ready to wind down for the evening.

We’ve had a number of different desserts here, though not nearly all of them as there are a lot!

May Contain Nuts Sundae

“Peanut butter ice cream, peanut brittle, Reese’s® peanut butter cups, chocolate peanut butter pie, fresh whipped cream, peanut butter sauce, topped with Reese’s® Pieces.”

This dessert is enough to share (with at least one other person!).  We saw another couple each order a sundae and the looks on their faces when they arrived were priceless.  The night before my husband and I had ordered one between us (after being in the park and not having eaten for 6 hours prior) and we still couldn’t finish!

Chocolate Creme Brûlée

“Creamy chocolate custard, caramelized sugar shell.”  This one can be eaten alone if you’re hungry but it’s still the largest creme brûlée I’ve ever seen!  We’ve found they often run out of this one as they only make a certain amount each day so if you’re really set on it order it at lunch time to be sure you get one.

Chocolate Cream Pie

“Chocolate cream filling, fresh whipped cream, chocolate curls.”  Delicious!

Triple Chocolate Bread Pudding

“Three types of chocolate, chocolate cake, white chocolate ice cream.”  Mu hubby is a big bread pudding fan in general and he loved this version.

Jacques' Specialty Milkshakes

We’ve yet to order one of their milkshake masterpieces but we have friends that have had them with all good things to say.  They also all had a hard time finishing them.  The good news, you get to keep the mug so you can continue to sip away to your hearts content (don’t worry the mug is plastic.)

This restaurant also offers some unique extras….the décor is really something to see. The “restaurant owner” and her “robot” walk around and visit with the guests; my daughter enjoyed that.  They also offer a unique double chocolate stout beer that is the most chocolaty beer that I’ve ever had and a fun treat for adults.

This menu is extensive and varied and most things look super tasty!  Needless to say, we will be returning often to try to conquer it!
